Celebrity Ascent: Relaxing sailings with cutting-edge innovations

Snapshot

The 3,260-passenger Celebrity Ascent, which debuted in December 2023, continues the groundbreaking design and cutting-edge spaces seen in Celebrity Cruises's Edge class.

Guests can sip cocktails, socialize or dine on the Magic Carpet, a floating platform on the starboard side of the ship set five to 13 stories above sea level that allows passengers to feel as if they're levitating above the sea. Unwind in the widest range of staterooms in the Celebrity fleet, from Infinite Verandas to two-story Edge Villas to jaw-dropping Iconic Suites.

Want some private time? Suite guests can head to the Retreat, a spacious outdoor lounge area with a full-size pool and bar, concierge service, a lounge open 24/7 and a dedicated restaurant. The Resort Deck features a large lap pool flanked by sculptural trees and two martini glass-shaped whirlpools that overlook the deck below. Explore the Rooftop Garden by day and especially by night, when the giant LED screen springs to life.

Dining offers a wealth of choices, beginning with four complimentary main restaurants, each with a distinctive design and signature dishes inspired by specific regions of the world, as well as several superb specialty restaurants. New technologies even make an appearance at Le Petit Chef — before your meals arrive, projected 3D animated characters will appear on your table to explain how your meal is prepared.

Ascent is the fourth Edge class ship for Celebrity. Its sister ships are Celebrity Edge, Celebrity Apex and Celebrity Beyond.

Highlights on this ship

Magic Carpet

You'll want to check out the ship's distinctive Magic Carpet. The size of a tennis court, this impressive engineering feat scales the 16-deck ship throughout the day and evening, positioning at four of the ship’s decks, transforming into a new experience at each one.

At the summit of the ship on deck 16, the Magic Carpet turns into a specialty restaurant offering an upscale dining experience. When it hugs deck 14, Magic Carpet becomes an open-air expansion of the main pool area. On deck 5, Magic Carpet extends one of the ship’s specialty restaurants into an impressive-looking al fresco venue. And on deck 2, it serves as an embarkation and disembarkation platform when tendering in ports of call.

Resort Deck

Celebrity Edge calls its pool deck the Resort Deck because the pool is only one of the focal points of deck 14. It features two-story windows, with chaise lounges positioned around them facing out to sea. The large pool is flanked by sculptural trees and two "martini glass" Jacuzzis that overlook the deck below. The deck also features six oversized private cabanas for a fee.

Rooftop Garden

The Rooftop Garden is one of many spaces aboard Celebrity Edge that will lure guests out to relax and play. Imagined by celebrated architect Tom Wright, the Rooftop Garden, tended daily by a resident horticulturist, is the perfect place for guests to enjoy games (giant Jenga, ladder ball) and activities throughout the day. At night, it is home to live music and outdoor movie-and-meal pairings.

The Retreat: The ultimate sanctuary

The Retreat, billed as the ultimate sanctuary for world travelers, is the ship's private utopia with a private pool on the sun deck, butler service and an exclusive restaurant, Luminae.

You’ll find contemporary French cuisine at Normandie. Dinners at the 346-seat restaurant come with your Celebrity Edge class sailing.

Specialty restaurants

The specialty restaurants on board include:

Le Voyage: French restaurateur and Michelin chef Daniel Boulud infused a global vibe into the menu to give guests a taste of the places that inspire him.

Magic Carpet: When positioned on deck 5, Magic Carpet transforms into a casual, open-air restaurant with a menu that features seafood, sushi rolls and cocktails.

Eden Restaurant: This open kitchen offers innovative appetizers, entrées with a Mediterranean focus and desserts, all served in a sprawling three-deck space. Cost is $85 per person.

Fine Cut Steakhouse: The venue offers a wide selection of choice cuts of meat and premium seafood in a warm, inviting setting with rich ruby, amber and gold design elements. Entrees include Grass Fed Lamb Chops, Pan Roasted Maine Lobster Tail with creamy garlic sauce and the Slow Roasted Cornish Game Hen.

Le Grand Bistro: In the mood for French? This venue evokes the sights and scents of a bustling boulangerie-patisserie.

Le Petit Chef and Family: This bit of high concept combined a four-course meal with projected 3D animated characters in the form of a culinary fairytale. The dining experience blends choreography with an elegant menu created by the in-house Michelin Star chef. Cost is $60 per person.

Raw on 5: This whimsically designed venue offers a selection of oysters, crabs, shrimp salad, lobster roll and sushi and sashimi.

Rooftop Garden Grill: The setting is the star here. The wait staff serves gourmet BBQ favorites as you take in the fresh ocean breezes and open sky.

Exclusive restaurants

Two restaurants exclusive to the Retreat and AquaClass guests are Luminae at the Retreat, featuring menus that change daily, and Blu, featuring spa-inspired cuisine complemented by an extensive list of sustainable and bio-dynamic wines. Blu is open for lunch and dinner with outdoor seating to take in the sea views.

The multi-purpose Magic Carpet is a cantilevered deck extending off the side of the ship. When stationed on Deck 14 and 16, it is a chill bar off the pool. On Deck 5, it serves as a casual restaurant and bar, with an exclusive cocktail list.
