Holland America offers free shore excursions

The latest deals from Holland America Line, which just came across our desk, will make any seafarer jump for joy and want to hop on board. The semi-premium cruise provider has a couple of nice promotions going for anyone who books a select 2016 and 2017 cruise by Feb. 29, 2016.

It’s called the “View and Veranda” and offers onboard spending credit on more than 400 cruises (that means you have money to burn at the spa, boutique, on wine, etc.). Plus, HAL is tossing in an opportunity for guests to receive two free shore excursions on cruises calling at select ports in Asia, Australia, New Zealand and South America.

Details of the Holland America offer: Multiple options

  • Book a cabin on ms Noordam or ms Maasdam in Australia and New Zealand on select departures between September 2016 and March 2017 and score two free shore excursions when the itinerary visits Melbourne, Australia; or Auckland, Picton or Wellington, New Zealand.

Risk-free bookings on all Viking river cruises

The offer

Call Cruiseable to book ANY 2016 Viking River Cruise by February 29 and you can cancel for any reason — and get your money back with no cancellation fees or penalties.

Cruiseable's take

Cruise lines routinely charge a cancellation fee after a reservation is made, so this is a bold step by Viking to remove some of the anxiety out of the equation. Start researching the Viking river cruise that's right for you, make a booking, and enjoy peace of mind.

Celebrity Cruises exclusive offer: 2 free perks (expired)

The offer

Book virtually any Celebrity cruise by February 28 that departs between April 2016 and April 2017 and Cruiseable will arrange 2 FREE Perks for you during your voyage. See the Perks below. Certain bookings receive a Private Cocktail Reception, Exclusive Shore Excursion and hosted cruise.

Cruiseable's take

We love the Celebrity Cruises ships and itineraries, and these perks provide an added incentive to book a sailing this month. This is a Wave Season special, so cruise lines are rolling out especially good offers now.

Oceania Cruises: Up to $4,000 in savings & free air ✈ (expired)

The offer

Oceania Cruises is offering cruise fare discounts of $1,000 to $4,000, free air fare and $700 in shipboard credit (the equivalent of spending money) if you book through Cruiseable. Details:

  • Free air fare
  • Discount of up to $4,000 per stateroom
  • Free prepaid gratuities
  • Up to $700 in onboard credit
  • Up to $999 Business Class air upgrade

Cruiseable's take

With a wide array of exotic vacations, from the opulence of the Orient to the vibrant cultures of the Caribbean and Amazon, there are few cruises that equal the country club elegance of a sailing aboard an Oceania Cruises ship. This special is for a limited time only.

Star Clippers waives 50% single supplement (expired)

The offer

Star Clippers, operators of three classic tall ships, is waiving the typical 50% supplement for solo travelers on select sailings in the Mediterranean in 2016. Throughout April and October 2016, Star Clipprs is offering attractive rates with no single supplement on 4- to 11-night voyages on all three of its ships.

Cruiseable's take

Many travelers are still unfamiliar with the astonishingly beautiful masted ships from Star Clippers. Count us among those who'd like to see the single supplement — which unfairly penalizes single and solo travelers — scrapped or overhauled. Solo cruisers with a bent for adventure ought to love a Mediterranean sailing on any of Star Clippers' ships.

Free air fare to Europe for your AmaWaterways river cruise (expired)

The offer

AmaWaterways is offering guests free air fare to Europe on select 2016 departures. Reserve a balcony stateroom and you'll receive free air fare to Europe from the gateway cities listed below.

Cruiseable's take

Many more people would spring for a cruise on one of AmaWaterways' world-class river ships if only it weren't for pricey international air fare. AmaWaterways has removed that barrier with a very nice sweetener. If you've been considering a romantic European river cruise, this is an excellent choice.

Royal's offer: Two sail for price of 1½ (expired)

The offer

Royal Caribbean is offering couples the following special: Other extras: reduced up-front deposit and up to $300 in onboard credits (the equivalent of spending money).

Cruiseable's take

Royal Caribbean surfaces these specials periodically throughout the year. If you'd like a cruise in 2016 and like a big-ship experience, Royal Caribbean ships are hard to beat.

The great thing about this special is that it applies to hundreds and hundreds of sailings — in fact, it covers all cruises from Dec 10, 2015, through Dec. 31, 2016.

Walter Christen's insight:
I like what Royal Caribbean is adding with their new Royal Suite Class. There are three tiers to be offered.  I would love to cruise using the Aqua Theater suite.
On the highest class, there is also  all-day access to Royal Caribbean's Coastal Kitchen, a specialty restaurant the focuses on healthy California-Mediterranean foods.
