Star Princess: Innovative new ship arrives in summer 2025

Snapshot

Star Princess, the second Sphere class ship from Princess Cruises, is due to begin an inaugural season of Mediterranean voyages when it debuts in August 2025. In winter 2025 it will begin a series of sailings in the Caribbean.

Star Princess joins sister Sun Princess (debuting in 2024) as the largest ships ever built for Princess at 175,500 gross tons — they're 20 percent larger than any of the line’s existing ships. They have been designed to simultaneously embrace the Princess heritage while celebrating the romance of the sea by offering more dynamic, outward views.

The Star will offer more than 1,500 balconies and 29 restaurants and bars throughout 21 decks. Guests will experience new innovative areas such as the Dome, the Piazza and the Princess Arena. You'll also find new or reimagined dining venues, an expanded casino, the Lotus Spa and entertainment headlined by Cirque Éloize.

Where Star Princess will sail

Bookings are now open. Star Princess will feature a variety of 9- to 26-night cruises from Rome, Athens or Venice (Trieste) during summer and fall. Starting in November 2025, Star Princess will sail 7- to 14-night Eastern and Western Caribbean cruises on Saturdays and Sundays from Ft. Lauderdale.

Highlights

Highlights on Star Princess will include the following:

  • A new space called the Dome will be a multi-deck transformational entertainment venue inspired by the terraces of Santorini, Greece. During the day, the venue will function as an indoor/outdoor pool area. At night, the pool will be covered to become an entertainment space featuring aerial performances.
  • A next-level Piazza featuring a glass sphere will be a space infused with light and connecting guests with dynamic views of the world.
  • The Princess Arena is the ship’s technologically advanced main theater. It will be a configurable space, allowing Princess to produce a variety of innovative entertainment concepts.
  • A majestic main dining room will be positioned at the ship's aft with eye-catching wake views.
  • Expanded stateroom options will include the new Reserve and Signature collections.
  • New food and beverage concepts, an expanded casino, a two-story Lotus Spa and entertainment headlined by Cirque Éloize.

Staterooms

Princess Cruises has revealed that the new Sphere class ship will have expanded accommodation options with luxurious cabins and suites, including the new Reserve and Signature Collections. Sister ship Sun Princess is set to have a total of 2,157 cabins so that's a good bet for Star Princess as well.

Fun facts

  • This is the third iteration of Star Princess. The first ship entered service as Star Princess in 1989 and was christened by actress and humanitarian Audrey Hepburn. The second Star Princess came in 2002 as the third Grandclass ship.
  • Star will be the second in the Princess fleet to be powered by LNG fuel technology and also is being built with the most advanced sustainable innovations available.
