Viking Egil
Viking Egil: Sailing to storied cities on the Danube
Snapshot
Viking Egil from Viking River Cruises carries 190 passengers and 50 crew members on cruises along the Danube River to destinations that include Vienna and Budapest.
Egil is a Viking Longship and launched in March 2016 along with sister ships Viking Alruna, Kadlin, Rolf, Tialfi and Vilhjalm. The highlights of your sailing will likely be shore excursions to the castles and medieval buildings in Germany, Austria and Hungary.
Like other Viking Longships, the Egil features the Aquavit Terrace, which transforms from an indoor to outdoor dining venue as the weather permits. For dining and entertainment, The Restaurant and Bar are the key go-to public spaces.
Where Viking Egil sails
Viking Egil sails a 7-night Danube River cruise from Budapest to Regensburg, Germany, and stops in Vienna and other storybook destinations.
Dining
Viking Egil has two restaurants on board: The Restaurant is the main dining venue, featuring floor-to-ceiling windows for panoramic views, and the Aquavit Terrace offers an innovative indoor/outdoor viewing area at the bow of the ship. Both serve regional specialties and American classics.
Highlights on board
Passengers can make use of Egil's onboard Concierge, complimentary shipwide Wi-Fi and a 24-hour beverage bar. The ship also provides an array of options for cultural enrichment: Take part in immersive learning and enhancement activities both on board and ashore to complement your shore excursions. Or participate in hands-on demonstrations, cooking classes or local tastings and watch traditional performances by local singers and dancers.
Presentations provide a context for your own observations, enhancing your travel experience. Viking River Cruises has created a series of multimedia presentations where you can learn about the region you are sailing in.
There's no spa or fitness center, but you'll get plenty of exercise walking during the frequent shore excursions.
