If you like your vacations supersized, then Norwegian Epic might be the right ship for your next cruise. We recently returned from a four-night Bahamas sailing and had a chance to try out all of the activities below.
Norwegian Epic is one of Norwegian Cruise Line’s largest vessels and one of the biggest ships sailing the Caribbean and Mediterranean. Along with its impressive girth, the ship also boasts plenty of entertainment, dining and amenities to keep even the most active cruisers busy all day long.
If you’re looking to maximize your time at sea, here are the seven epic things you need to do on a Norwegian Epic cruise.
Let’s start with an inside tip: While cruisers staying in the ship’s Haven have access to the Posh Beach Club on deck 18, you too can get exclusive access. You will need to be among the first passengers on board the ship on embarkation day to purchase one of the limited passes available for this private sun deck. With comfy lounge chairs and day beds, and a bar that never has a line, you’ll find that Posh Beach Club is the perfect place to relax on those lazy sea days.
If you’re in the mood for something wet and wild, then you need to take the Epic Plunge. You can swirl your way around this 200-foot-long bowl slide that was the first of its kind on a cruise ship. The two other body slides provide a thrilling ride as well. These waterslides are sure to be one of the highlights of your sea days on Norwegian Epic.
This dinner theater show features the multi-talented Cirque Dreams performers paired with a three-course surf and turf dinner in an intimate venue. Be amazed at the various acrobats, balance acts and jugglers as you wine and dine in style in this exclusive setting. Reservations are required, and the show does have a cover charge. See our recent writeup, Cirque Dreams puts you inches from the action.
The Svedka Ice Bar on Norwegian Epic is a great place to chill, quite literally, one night of your cruise. No matter how hot it might be outside, this room is kept at a balmy 17 degrees Fahrenheit. Put on an insulated coat and pair of gloves, then see if you can handle the frigid temperatures as you sip a couple of the bar’s signature drinks. There’s an upcharge to enter the bar which scores you two cocktails.
If you’re looking for the hottest deck party at sea, then dance the night away at the Glow party located in Spice H20 on Norwegian Epic. Complete with neon lights, the latest pop music, glow sticks, the Caribbean breeze and a feel-good crowd, this party will provide an epic night that’s sure to be a highlight of your cruise vacation.
Do you have what it takes to solve the clues and be the first to find the magic spell? For those who want to test their wits, Escape the Big Top is an interactive escape room style game that challenges teams to escape the curse before time runs out. The first team to complete the circus-themed puzzles and “escape the big top” earns bragging rights for the remainder of the voyage.
With live music, oversize leather chairs and a Beatles cover band, the Cavern Club is built for music legends. Modeled after the famous Liverpool spot that gave us the Fab Four, this is one legendary venue. Whether you’re a fan of live music or just looking for a hip place to sip a few drinks, the Cavern Club is the spot. Be sure to arrive early as this venue is often standing room only.
