Rotterdam
Rotterdam: Tasteful elegance & refined entertainment
Snapshot
Holland America Line's grand new ship Rotterdam is more than a sister to Koningsdam and Nieuw Statendam, part of its Pinnacle class of ships. After its launch in July 2021, Rotterdam is now the august cruise line's flagship.
Let's avoid confusion right up front: This is a completely different ship than Rotterdam, which Holland America retired from the fleet and sold off in 2020. The new build heralds the latest in tasteful design, top-rate cusine and refined culture at sea.
Light modern design surrounds you on board this ship. Staterooms and suites feature Euro-Top mattresses and massage showerheads. Public spaces are bright during the day and sparkle at night. Dining is always a special treat on Holland America ships, and options here include a number of specialty restaurants, including French brassiere Rudi's Sel de Mer, Tamarind and Canaletto.
Entertainment on board focuses on music, music, music. Great venues include the new Rolling Stone Rock Room, B.B. King's Blues Club, Billboard Onboard, World Stage and Lincoln Center Stage.
Where Rotterdam sails
Rotterdam cruises the Caribbean in winter and northern Europe in summers.
Ship highlights
Among the many highlights on the ship are Lincoln Center Stage, offering refined chamber music; the popular B.B. King's Blues Club, bringing Memphis music to sea, the Rolling Stone Rock Room with classic rock hits, and Billboard Onboard, where live musicians entertain the crowd with chart-topping hits.
Dining
Holland America ships are renowned for fine dining, and Rotterdam continues that tradition. The ship has a main complimentary restaurant, plus the popular Pinnacle Grill steakhouse; Rudi’s Sel de Mer, a French seafood brasserie; Tamarind, for cuisine from Southeast Asia, China and Japan; Nami Sushi with sushi and Asian spirits; Canaletto (one of our favorites) for family-style Italian dining, and Club Orange for guests who belong to the Club Orange program.
Other venues include Grand Dutch Café, featuring Dutch coffee and treats and European beer; Dive-In, for gourmet burgers and fries at poolside; New York Deli and Pizza for made-to-order sandwiches and pies, and Lido Market, which features themed serving stations for buffet dining.
Staterooms
Rotterdam accommodates 2,668 guests in multiple categories, including a snug Interior Stateroom (141-225 square feet), Ocean View Stateroom (175-282 sf), Verandah Stateroom (228-405 sf), Vista Suite (260-356 sf), Signature Suite (393-400 sf), Neptune suite (465-502 sf) and super-spacious Pinnacle Suites at 1,290 square feet.
