Peter & Paul Fortress in St. Petersburg, Russia (photos)

One of our memorable shore excursions on Viking Sun in August came in St. Petersburg, Russia, where we started with a canal cruise and ended at Saints Peter and Paul Fortress.

The landmark, consisting of a large walled set of fortifications and an iconic church on ‎Zayachy (Hare) Island, was founded by Peter the Great in 1703 on north bank of the Neva River.
