Personalized service for disabled cruisers

If you’re disabled or travel with someone who is, here is some good news for you. Next time you need to rent a wheelchair, scooter or other health care device during your cruise, SNG is offering curb-to-cabin white glove service.

What does that mean? It means you don’t have to wait until you’re in your stateroom to get assistance. Representatives of the company will meet you at the entrance of the cruise terminal with the necessary equipment — for no extra charge beyond the cost of renting the SNG wheelchair or scooter.

For anyone who has disabilities or travels with a parent who needs a wheelchair, this is a big help. I always had to find a wheelchair to transport my mother to our stateroom. This white glove service takes the burden out of that big time. And it works for both embarkation and departure.

Service offered by global provider

In case you’re unfamiliar with the service, SNG (Special Needs Group) and its ancillary arm Special Needs at Sea are a major global provider of wheelchair rentals, scooter rentals, oxygen rentals and other special needs equipment rentals.

For now, the extra service is available for passengers making new bookings with Carnival Cruise Line, Norwegian Cruise Line, Regent Seven Seas Cruises and Oceania Cruises, and will be rolled out to other cruise lines. The service is rolling out in cruise ports including Miami, Fort Lauderdale, Port Canaveral, Boston, New York, Galveston, Seattle, Los Angeles, Mobile, Ala., and Vancouver.

Before the cruise, an SNG guest experience ambassador will personally meet clients who book the SNG White Glove Service prior to entering the terminal. The ambassador will deliver and demonstrate the equipment as well as answer any questions about the operation and use of the equipment. When the cruise is over, the ambassador will meet clients for equipment return at curbside.

Once you order your equipment from SNG and have arrived at the port, you need to notify SNG that you've arrived. If you have an early departure, notify SNG ahead of time so that proper arrangements can be made. There is no additional charge for the SNG White Glove Service.
