My First Cruise Aboard Queen Victoria

In November 2015, I embarked on my first voyage with Cunard, aboard Queen Victoria. My visual list shows some of my favourite areas onboard - and one of my favourite meals! She is a beautiful ship and I'm looking forward to sailing on her sister, Queen Mary 2, to America in 2016.

Step into the Hydro Pool on Queen Victoria for some relaxing hydro-therapy.

Step into the Hydro Pool on Queen Victoria for some relaxing hydro-therapy. I bought a day-pass for the Royal Bath House, which includes the Hydro-therapy pool. It was $35 which I thought was reasonable.

The Courtyard Grills on Queen Victoria is available to guests who opt for a premium package.

Danielle Fear / Special to Cruiseable

The Courtyard Grills on Queen Victoria is only available for guests onboard booked in either Princess Grill or Queens Grill suites. It was too cold to use it on my cruise, but I imagine in the summer months it would be a lovely place to dine.

The Lido Pool on Queen Victoria is more subdued than on many cruise ships.

The Lido Pool on Queen Victoria. Everyone loves a good Lido Deck and this one did not disappoint. I just wish it had been a Mediterranean cruise, instead of a rather chilly Northern Europe one!

The Queens Lounge, or Queens Room, on Queen Victoria.

The Queens Lounge, or Queens Room, on Queen Victoria. I loved this space. It was so grand and sophisticated. It really gave an idea of what grand ballrooms must have been like on the ships of yesteryear.

A tasteful Princess Grill Suite on Queen Victoria.

This was my Princess Grill Suite and it was beautiful! The balcony was quite cool too, it was the last in our row before a break to allow for the lifeboats, which meant it was somewhat bigger and although the view to the left was a little bit restricted, the sun could still hit it perfectly. If we'd had any!

A steak dinner from Princess Grills during a recent sailing on Queen Victoria.

My delicious steak from the Princess Grill Restaurant. I was super cheeky and asked for some scallops from another dish. They agreed. I was happy!

The 830-seat, three-deck Royal Court Theatre on deck 3 of Queen Victoria features two shows per night, lasting about 50 minutes.

Danielle Fear / Special to Cruiseable

One of the most magnificent theatre's that I have seen aboard any ship! It was truly beautiful, I actually felt like I'd stepped into a show in the West End of London.

The Queens Arcade on deck 3 of Queen Victoria, inspired by the Royal and Burlington Arcades in London, features a grand staircase.

The Queens Arcade on deck 3 of Queen Victoria, inspired by the Royal and Burlington Arcades in London, features a grand staircase. This was another beautiful area with the casino to one side and the Golden Lion Pub to the other.

The atmospheric Hemispheres lounge aboard Queen Victoria.

The atmospheric Hemispheres lounge aboard Queen Victoria. After 10PM this is the place to be to dance, socialise and laugh the night away. This very quickly became my "go to" place after playing the quiz in the Golden Lion.

Britannia Restaurant, on decks 2 and 3, is Queen Victoria's largest restaurant, a stylish space with intimate table groupings framed by tall cornices.

A shot of the classy Atrium aboard Queen Victoria.

Queen Victoria's beautiful atrium. One of the nicest atriums I have seen aboard any ship.
