S.S. La Venezia: Luxury river cruising on a floating Venetian palace

Snapshot

S.S. La Venezia, with an aesthetic that evokes a floating Venetian palace from the 1930s, is the newest Super Ship from luxury river cruise line Uniworld.

The focus of the cruises on La Venezia is northern Italian treasures such as Bologna and Poloselia on the Po River and islands in the Venetian lagoon, with several cruise tours (a combination of land and cruise vacations) available. There are also land journeys to Valpolicella and Milan and you can choose to extend your travels by land to Istanbul, Turkey or the Swiss Alps.

The ship — River Empress before its renovation in 2020 — has been completely reimagined, with influences drawn from luxury textiles brand Fortuny. Murano glass, gilded accents and artistic etched elements pay tribute to popular aesthetics of early 20th century Venice, aspiring to create an onboard atmosphere that is at once elegant and nostalgic.
