JoCo Cruise: Loreto & ‘JoCoachella’

Yesterday we published a Visual List about the recent JoCo Cruise theme cruise, a floating convention for nerds, with a focus on Cabo San Lucas. Today we'll share the photos from the rest of the cruise, including the cruise's centerpiece: two days in Loreto, Mexico, including a music and food festival with JoCo's first land-based concert, which some playfully dubbed "JoCoachella."

This was my first visit to Loreto, which hugs the east coast of Baja, but it's all I've heard about: authentic, charming, non-touristy, welcoming and small enough to explore on foot. Its colonial buildings include the Misión de Nuestra Señora de Loreto, a 17th-century church. Off the coast, the islands and waters of Bahía de Loreto National Park are home to dolphins, whales and pelicans.

Look intriguing? Next February's JoCo Cruise is on Holland America's Oosterdam, with an itinerary along the Mexican Riviera.
