Known for its exceptional whale watch boat trips, Kaikoura on New Zealand's South Island also offers a spectacular seascape. The coastal road runs between a steep rugged mountain range and the Pacific Ocean. Fur seals are a common sight on the rocks and freshly cooked crayfish (lobster) is readily available from restaurants and roadside stalls. Stress levels? Close to zero. Take a pre- or post-cruise stayover.
