AmaLilia: Nile cruises through the Valley of the Kings

AmaLilia began providing cruises along the majestic Nile River in April 2024 following the success of its sister ship, AmaDahlia, which debuted in fall 2021. With 72 passengers and 62 crew members, the new ship features a high crew to passenger ratio and an intimate setting. AmaLilia offers 36 staterooms, including 16 spacious suites with a wealth of amenities.

The ship is adorned with upscale, regionally inspired décor, blending modern luxury with ancient Egyptian elements. This aesthetic creates a sophisticated ambiance that complements the historical and cultural experiences offered during the cruise.

On board, passengers can enjoy a variety of activities and amenities. The Sun Deck features a heated swimming pool and bar, perfect for relaxing while taking in the breathtaking views of the Nile. There's also a fitness room equipped with weights and cardio equipment, a massage room, and a hair and nail salon, as well as stretching and relaxation classes led by an onboard wellness host.

Cultural enrichment

AmaLilia places a strong emphasis on cultural enrichment. An onboard Egyptologist accompanies passengers throughout the cruise, providing insightful lectures and leading excursions to explore Egypt's rich history. This educational aspect enhances the overall experience, allowing guests to delve deeper into the mysteries of ancient Egypt. The ship's lounge hosts local performers, adding to the cultural immersion with traditional entertainment.

Who will like sailing on Ama Lilia

AmaLilia is ideal for well-traveled adults, particularly those age 50 and above, who are interested in history, culture and luxury travel. The ship's intimate setting and lack of children under 18 create a serene atmosphere, appealing to couples and solo travelers seeking a sophisticated cruise experience. The educational aspects and cultural immersion activities make it particularly suited for those who value learning and exploration during their travels.

Where AmaLilia sails

AmaLilia features a combined 11-night "Secrets of Egypt and the Nile" cruise and land tour round-trip from Cairo. A highlight is the visit to Luxor on the site of ancient Thebes, the pharaohs’ capital at the height of their power during the 16th to 11th centuries B.C.

Today's city surrounds two huge surviving ancient monuments: graceful Luxor Temple and Karnak Temple, a mile north. The royal tombs of the Valley of the Kings and the Valley of the Queens are on the river’s west bank.

The itinerary includes four nights at a hotel in Cairo. The pre- or post-cruise stay allows visitors to take in the Sphinx and the Great Pyramid of Khufu in Giza.
